The North Carolina Department of Agriculture’s Food Protection Division has created three new ways for North Carolina consumers to find answers to their Food Safety questions. A new toll-free number is now available for North Carolina residents by calling 877-FOOD-644 (877-366-3644). This number will be available during normal operating hours Monday through Friday.
A similar resource has been set up as an email address. NCFOODSAFE@ncagr.gov will provide an efficient tool to provide more in depth responses to your food safety questions.
Finally, for those who prefer to search for information about food safety http://www.ncfoodsafety.com has been redesigned to provide direct access to relevant food safety information as well as links to various sites on the web that address this topic very well.

Food Safety and Food Security:
What Consumers Need to Know
For nearly a century, the U.S. Department of
Agriculture (USDA) has been protecting the Nation’s
food supply. This long history has allowed USDA’s
Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) to develop
the expertise and systems to protect our Nation’s
supply of meat, poultry, and egg products against
intentional and unintentional contamination.
With a solid food safety infrastructure in place, FSIS
has also been able to focus on strengthening existing
programs and improving lines of communication,
both internally and externally. Through cooperation
with industry, consumers, and other government
agencies, FSIS has an extensive system in place that
can properly respond to a food security emergency. Download the full PDF
